Joey A. Chbeir
Joey A. Chbeir joined the firm's Birmingham office in February of 2007, and is an associate specializing in railroad law and commercial ligitations. His experience also includes both trial and appellate litigation in the areas of professional malpractice and directors and officers liability.
Joey's practice includes a significant amount of personal injury litigation, much of which is dedicated to the defense of railroad companies in the context of employee lawsuits arising under the Federal Employers' Liability Act ("FELA"), involving claims for both traumatic and occupational injuries, as well as toxic tort claims. His railroad practice also includes defending grade crossing accidents, derailments, trespasser cases, and property matters.
After earning an LL.B. from the Université la Sagesse in Beirut, Lebanon, Joey went on to receive an LL.M. from the University of Minnesota Law School and an LL.M. from The University of Alabama School of Law. In addition to being admitted to practice law in Alabama state courts, he is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Alabama. He is a member of the Alabama State Bar, the American Bar Association (Business Law and Litigation sections), and the Birmingham Bar Association.
Prior to joining the firm, Joey served as the law clerk to the Honorable Tom King, Jr., Circuit Judge in the Alabama Tenth Judicial Circuit. He is fluent in English, Arabic, and French, having conducted legal research in all three languages.
