May 20, 2009: Anna F. Buckner presented a seminar for the Chattanooga Tax Practitioners in Chattanooga, TN for their membership on the topic of GRATS ~ grantor retained annuity trusts ~ membership includes attorneys, accountants, underwriters, trust officers and other fiduciaries and tax practioners in the Chattanooga, TN area.

May 11, 2009: Crawford S. McGivaren, Jr., Sydney F. Frazier, Jr., Benjamen T. Rowe, Donald J. Stewart, Roy J. Crawford, David S. Dunkle, C. Fred Daniels, Sandy G. Robinson and Patrick H. Sims have been named by Alabama Super Lawyers magazine as several of the top attorneys in Alabama for 2009. Only five percent of the lawyers in the state are named by Super Lawyers.

The selections for Super Lawyers are made by Law & Politics, a division of Key Professional Media, Inc. of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Each year, Law & Politics undertakes a rigorous multi-phase selection process that includes a statewide survey of lawyers, independent evaluation of candidates by Law & Politics' attorney-led research staff, a peer review of candidates by practice area, and a good-standing and disciplinary check.

Crawford S. McGivaren, Jr and C. Fred Daniels were both in the top 50 who received the highest point totals in the state based on the nomination, research and blue ribbon review process.

May 5, 2009: C. Fred Daniels presented a program to the Birmingham Tax Forum entitled "Can You Keep a Secret?--Attorney/Client and Other Privileges in Tax Proceedings".

May 5, 2009: John T. Howard has been appointed to serve on the 2009 Personal Injury Seminar Planning Committee for CLE Alabama.

May 4, 2009: G. Thomas Sullivan conducted a seminar in Scottsdale, Arizona for the American College of Healthcare Executives. The seminar focused on alternative dispute resolution and how the healthcare executive can be a more efficient utilizer of legal services.

March 6, 2009: C. Fred Daniels was elected to serve as Regent of the American College of Trust & Estate Counsel for a three-year term. He previously served as the Alabama State Chair and also the Chair of the State Chairs Steering Committee.

March 5, 2009: C. Fred Daniels conducted a presentation to the Business Planning Committee of the American College of Trust & Estate Counsel in Rancho Mirage, California entitled "Joint Defense and Other Common Interest Agreements".

February 23, 2009: John T. Howard has been appointed to serve on the 2009 Fee Arbitration Committee of the Birmingham Bar Association.

December 10, 2008: C. Fred Daniels presented a program at the 2008 Tennessee Federal Tax Conference in Nashville, Tennessee entitled "Now You See It, Now You Don't--Practical Magic Using Grantor Trusts".

December 5, 2008: C. Fred Daniels conducted a presentation for the Alabama Bar Institute on Continuing Legal Education on the Alabama Uniform Estate Tax Apportionment Act.

December 2, 2008 : Michael E. Turner has been appointed to serve on the 2009 Medical Liaison Committee for the Birmingham Bar Association.

April 3, 2008: K. W. Michael Chambers recently joined the Board of Advisors for the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce. He was recently highlighted in their publication, The Business View.

April 2, 2008: Benjamen T. Rowe is currently serving as president of the Mobile Bar Foundation. He has also been elected to the Board of Trustees of the Alabama Law Foundation and membership in the Atticus Finch Society.

February 6, 2008: David S. Dunkle will make a presentation on "Using Trusts in Estate Planning" in a seminar for attorneys and accountants titled Fundamentals of Estate Planning. The seminar is sponsored by Sterling Education Services, Inc. and will be held in Birmingham, Alabama on May 13, 2008.

February 5: 2008: On February 26, 2008, David S. Dunkle will make a presentation entitled "An Overview of Estate Planning Techniques."  The seminar is sponsored by the investment advisory firm of Chitwood Advisory Group.
