Roy J. Crawford

Roy J. Crawford was born in Selma, Alabama on September 29, 1949. He received his undergraduate degree from Troy State University (B.S., summa cum laude, 1971), his law degree from University of Alabama (J.D., 1977), and his LL.M. from New York University (LL.M. in Taxation, 1980).

At the University of Alabama, Roy Crawford was a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, Order of the Coif, Jasons, Bench and Bar Honor Society, and Managing Editor of the Alabama Law Review, 1976-1977.

Mr. Crawford’s practice emphasizes federal and state tax planning for corporations and tax-exempt entities, federal and state tax litigation, and representation of health-care providers. He has been trial and appellate counsel in numerous federal and state tax cases, including O’Neal v. United States, 258 F.3d 1265 (11 Cir. 2001), Alabama Department of Revenue v. Sonat, Inc., 752 So.2d 1211 (Ala. 1999), and Lloyd Noland Foundation, Inc. v. City of Fairfield Healthcare Authority, 837 So. 2d 253 (Ala. 2002). Mr. Crawford is listed in The Best Lawyers in America.

He is listed in the Best Lawyers in America for Corporate Law, Healthcare Law and Tax Law; as a top attorney in Alabama by the Super Lawyers magazine for Tax Law; and was selected by Chambers USA in 2011 as a "Leader In His Field" for his Corporate and Commercial work.
