Recruiting
Cabaniss, Johnston, Gardner, Dumas &
O’Neal LLP is distinguished by the exceptional ability of its
lawyers and the excellence of its work product. The firm offers
associates
outstanding opportunities that compare
favorably with any other firm in the nation.
Employment Standards
Our firm actively seeks lawyers from leading law schools around
the country possessing the basic qualities of intelligence,
diligence, character, and a dedication to the highest degree of
professional and ethical standards. Because we believe that
internal harmony and camaraderie are vital attributes of a
successful firm, we strive to hire lawyers who are not only highly
competent, but who will also genuinely enjoy their association
with the other members of the firm. Reflecting this philosophy,
our firm is comprised of graduates from the law schools of
Alabama, Cornell, Cumberland, Duke, Harvard, Kentucky, Mercer, Mississippi, North Carolina, South
Carolina, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Wake Forest and Washington & Lee.
Summer Clerkship Program
The firm's summer clerkship program
is designed to acquaint prospective associates with our lawyers,
clients, and practice and the local community. To the extent
possible, summer associates attend client conferences,
depositions, closings, and court appearances. An effort is made,
consistent with the needs of our clients, to tailor the summer
program to the individual interests of the summer associates,
while providing each summer associate with a comprehensive
overview of the firm and our practice. In addition, various social
and athletic events are scheduled so that summer associates and
lawyers become acquainted on a more personal basis. The firm
believes that a 6 week summer's clerkship provides a summer
associate and the firm with a better opportunity for acquaintance
and evaluation than clerkships for shorter periods. The
opportunity to divide time between our Birmingham and Mobile
offices is also available to summer associates who may be
interested. The summer clerkship program has traditionally been
our most important source of new associates.
Social Activities
The social activities offered for summer associates to get
acquainted with our attorneys vary from summer to summer. The list
below is a sample of activities offered.
- Baron’s Baseball Games
- Charity Crawfish Boil
- City Stages
- Cocktail Parties
- Dinner Parties

Diversity Policy
Our Firm is strongly committed to the
goal of diversity in the workplace. We represent clients from
throughout the State of Alabama, the United States, and abroad. We
value highly the perspectives, insights, and varied experiences that
are provided by a diverse workforce.
Equal Opportunity Employer
It has been and will continue to be
the policy of the Firm that all employment decisions and actions will
be made without regard to race, creed, color, sex, age, national
origin, or disability that can be reasonably accommodated.
